State Fingerprinting

Every state determines independently how they are going to process fingerprints for their civil state regulated agencies.

Some states opt to contract with an exclusive vendor to process all the live scan submissions within their state. In states like this, individuals applying for licenses or employment under agencies regulated by the state, will have no option but to be fingerprinted using the state's exclusive vendor.

Some states have open live scan programs where anyone can purchase live scan software and hardware package and transmit to the state.

Some states do not have live scan programs and typically require applicants submit fingerprint cards for their background checks.

If you want to become a PrintScan affiliate but your state has an exclusive vendor, you will have the ability to offer fingerprinting for most federal purposes and fingerprint card services.
